Green is our New Favorite Color
Studies show that upwards of 60% of electricity in the home is used for heating and cooling. That makes air conditioning the single largest source of the green house gas carbon dioxide in our homes and businesses. At Scottsdale Air we see this as an opportunity to make real change, especially with the help of our local utility companies and our federal government. A new high efficiency system can not only improve the comfort level of your house, but also reduce your utility bills and your carbon footprint.
Environmental Responsibility
We have made a companywide commitment to be mindful of our environmental responsibility and make every effort to reduce our impact. Some of the changes we are implementing include:
- Converting our vehicle fleet to use clean burning compressed natural gas.
- Replacing all chemicals used with their eco-friendly equivalents - including switching over to Nu-Calgon's new Green Select coil cleaners.
- Commited to installing only Puron refrigerant (R410a) whenever possible.
- Converting all of the light bulbs in our own office to compact fluoresent lights, and installing only the highest efficiency air conditioning and appliances.
Go Green, Save Green
In February 2009 the federal government passed the "American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009" which included incentives for making our homes more efficient. This includes a tax credit of up to $1500 for new extremely high efficiency heating and air conditioning systems. A tax credit is not the same thing as a tax deduction. A tax credit means that if you qualify, you will get that money back on your taxes, even if you do not owe money.
